FIRST EDITION, first impression. Octavo (21 x 14cm), pp.255; [1]. Publisher's red cloth lettered in gilt to spine. Dust-jacket with printed price of £1.25 net / 25s. net to front flap.

Edges toned with a little light spotting, three leaves bound in a little proud on the fore edge. Cloth sunned to the very top of the spine. Dust-jacket shows well, light marked, a couple of tiny closed tears, a little bruised to extremities. Near fine.

Hercule Poirot is spending an unexpectedly lonely evening, when he is rung up by his friend, Mrs Ariadne Oliver, who calls upon him in a state of great agitation. She has been to a Hallowe'en Party given for children and teenagers. The party has a tragic outcome, and she prevails upon Poirot to come to Woodleigh Common to sort out matters.
