INSCRIBED FIRST EDITION, first printing. Octavo (23 x 15cm), pp.x; 233; [1]. Publisher's red cloth, gilt titles to spine. Dust-jacket designed by Sebastian Carter, with printed price of £3.50 net to front flap. Illustrated. Warmly inscribed by the author to Jonathan Stedall to flyleaf. 

Internally fine, edges lightly toned. Dust-jacket split along top inch or so at the top of the rear fold, sunned to spine. Very good.

The recipient was Jonathan Stedall a documentary filmmaker who had a long professional relationship with John Betjeman (Penelope Chetwode's husband) and made a number of his best loved programmes.
