FIRST EDITION, first printing, first issue. Octavo (23 x 17cm), pp.512. Publisher's dark blue cloth, gilt titles to spine. Top edge stained blue, fore edge untrimmed. The scarce first issue with 'whip' to page 50, line 13.

Internally fine, some spotting and toning to first and last few leaves, edges toned. Binding moderately and unevenly faded, with some wear, bumping to corners. Very good.
